Freelance Flow ("the app," "we," "us") is published by Ryan McGee. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app does and does not collect, how your data is handled, and the rights you have. It is hosted at https://ryansan2001-source.github.io/freelance-finance-legal/. If you have questions, contact us at developer.ryan.mcgee@icloud.com.
Freelance Flow is an offline-first app for tracking freelance income, expenses, and taxes. The short version: we do not collect your data. Everything you enter stays on your device, and the only place it ever syncs is your own private iCloud account, which only you can access.
We collect no personal data. The developer does not operate any servers, accounts, analytics, or tracking, and receives none of your information.
All of the data you create in the app is stored locally on your device, including:
This information is stored on your device using Apple's on-device storage (SwiftData and, for preferences, iOS user defaults). It is not transmitted to us.
Receipt scanning runs entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework. Receipt images are analyzed locally to auto-fill expense details. No image or scanned text is sent over the network.
The AI finance assistant runs entirely on your device using Apple's on-device Foundation Models (available on iOS 26 and later). Your questions and your financial data are processed locally on your device. Nothing is sent to us or to any third-party AI service.
Because your data never leaves your device except through your own iCloud (see below), it is used only to provide the app's features to you: recording income and expenses, scanning receipts, estimating taxes, answering questions through the on-device assistant, and reminding you about tax dates. We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose of our own.
The app includes an optional "Sync to iCloud" setting. When you turn it on, your income, expenses, receipts, and settings are stored in your own private iCloud database through Apple's CloudKit so they stay in step across your devices.
If you choose to add tax reminders to your calendar, the app will ask for permission to access your calendar and will write reminder events you request. It does this only when you ask, and it does not read, collect, or transmit your calendar contents. You can deny or revoke this permission at any time in the iOS Settings app under Privacy.
Freelance Flow offers subscriptions and in-app purchases that are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We do not receive or store your name, payment card, or billing details. Purchases are handled under Apple's Privacy Policy (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/) and the terms of the App Store. Managing, canceling, or requesting refunds for a subscription is done through your Apple Account settings.
The app uses no third-party analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking services, and includes no third-party SDKs that collect your data. The only Apple services involved are those described above: on-device frameworks, your private iCloud, and App Store purchasing.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information, because we never collect it in the first place. We will never share your personal data with any third party, including any third-party AI service, without your explicit permission. The app is designed so that this situation does not arise: your data stays on your device and in your own iCloud.
Because we hold none of your data, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our side. You are always in control of your own data:
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, data protection law gives you rights over your personal data, including the rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, and port it, and to object to processing. Because we do not collect or hold any of your personal data, there is nothing for us to access, export, or erase on your behalf. You exercise these rights directly by managing the data on your device and in your own iCloud account, as described in Section 8. If you have questions, contact us at developer.ryan.mcgee@icloud.com.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not collect, sell, or share your personal information. We have not sold or shared personal information in the preceding twelve months, and we do not do so. You control your data directly on your device and in your own iCloud, as described in Section 8.
Freelance Flow is intended for a general audience of adults managing freelance finances and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Because the app collects no personal data at all, no information about any user, including children, is gathered by us.
Your data is protected by the security of your own device and Apple account, including device passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, on-device encryption, and, when you enable sync, the security of your private iCloud. Because we operate no servers and hold none of your data, there is no central store of your information for anyone to breach. No method of storage is ever completely secure, so we encourage you to protect your device with a passcode and keep your Apple Account credentials safe.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes are posted at https://ryansan2001-source.github.io/freelance-finance-legal/ with a new effective date.
