Frequently asked questions

How does Physical set my goals?

Your weekly aerobic and strength targets come from the 2018 U.S. Physical Activity Guidelines, personalized using the profile you enter (age, biological sex, height, weight, and pregnancy or postpartum status). You can change your profile anytime from the Settings screen.

Physical isn't seeing my workouts.

Physical reads and writes workouts through Apple Health. Make sure access is granted: open the iOS Settings app → Privacy & SecurityHealthPhysical, and turn on the categories. You can also tap "Turn On All" when the Health permission screen first appears.

I already subscribed or bought Lifetime. How do I restore it?

If you reinstall the app or set up a new device, tap Restore Purchase on the plans screen (it also appears once your trial ends). Subscriptions and the Lifetime purchase are tied to your Apple Account; Lifetime is also included with Family Sharing.

How does the free trial and pricing work?

Physical is free to use for 7 days. After that, continue with a Monthly ($3.99) or Annual ($29.99) subscription, or unlock everything for life with a single Lifetime purchase ($49.99) — whichever fits how you use the app. Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled; manage or cancel anytime in your Apple Account subscription settings, reachable from Physical's Settings screen.

Can I add my workouts to my calendar?

Yes. Turn on Calendar sync in Settings and Physical will add an event for each workout you log (write-only — it can't read your existing events). You can revoke access anytime in iOS SettingsPrivacy & SecurityCalendars.

Why does Physical ask for my location?

Only for outdoor workouts on Apple Watch (run, walk, bike, hike). With your permission, it records the GPS route so the workout shows a map in Apple Health — using while-in-use access, only during the workout. Your location never leaves your device. Manage it in iOS SettingsPrivacy & SecurityLocation Services.

How do I use Physical on my Apple Watch?

Install the companion app on your paired Apple Watch. Start a workout on the Watch and Physical streams your live heart rate and intensity zones to your iPhone — including the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island Live Activity. Add the ring complication to your watch face for at-a-glance progress.

Can I turn the weekly reminder on or off?

Yes. The optional weekly reminder is a local notification you control with a toggle in Settings, or in iOS SettingsNotificationsPhysical. Physical also has an optional "workout counted" notification (below); both are local, and it sends nothing else.

What is the "workout counted" notification?

When you log a workout in another app and it saves to Apple Health, Physical can post a quick heads-up that it counted toward your weekly rings — so you don't have to open the app to know it landed. It's a local notification, off unless you turn it on, and you control it under SettingsNotifications in the app.

How do I start a workout from the Home Screen?

Touch and hold the Physical app icon on your Home Screen to get quick actions for starting a run, a walk, or a strength session, or jumping straight to this week — no need to open the app first.

Can I export my data, or share my progress?

Both. Export your logged workouts to a CSV file anytime from Settings (it opens the iOS share sheet, so you decide where it goes). You can also turn your weekly rings into a shareable image from the dashboard to post wherever you like. Nothing is sent to us either way.

I reinstalled Physical and my templates were gone. What happened?

As of the latest version, your saved strength templates and profile back up automatically to iCloud (if your device is signed in), so reinstalling the app or setting up a new device restores them. If you reinstalled an older version, or aren't signed into iCloud, those local-only items don't carry over. Make sure iCloud is on in iOS Settings[your name]iCloud.

Does my data sync across my devices?

Your saved strength templates and profile sync via iCloud to any other device signed into the same Apple Account, so you can pick up where you left off. Logged workouts already sync everywhere through Apple Health, independent of this. Your Apple Watch gets your templates directly from your iPhone, not from iCloud.

How do I delete my data?

Delete your profile in the app, or delete the app, to remove its locally stored data. Your iCloud backup of templates and profile is separate; turn it off in iOS Settings[your name]iCloudSaved to iCloud, or manage it from any device signed into your account. Workouts and routes live in Apple Health and Calendar events in your calendar — edit or delete those in Apple Health and Calendar, where you can also revoke Physical's access. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Does Physical collect or share my data?

No. There's no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no network calls. Nothing is collected or transmitted. Read the full Privacy Policy.
